The 2005 Ford GT is one of the coolest retro supercars to drive in Forza Horizon 6, but anyone who has spent time with the stock version already knows it can be difficult to control at high speed. The car looks amazing and has huge straight-line power, yet the default setup often feels nervous during corner entry and unstable when braking hard into tighter sections.
After trying several community tunes, the best overall racing setup I found for the car is the S1-Class Street Racing & Grip Build using the community share code:
121 167 241
This setup completely changes how the Ford GT behaves on the road. Instead of fighting snap oversteer every time you enter a corner too aggressively, the car becomes much smoother and easier to trust. It turns in more predictably, keeps traction better on exit, and feels significantly more planted during fast highway sections across the Japan map.
For players grinding early-game street races or tollgate events, this setup makes the Ford GT far more competitive.
Why the Stock Ford GT Feels Difficult
The stock 2005 Ford GT has plenty of speed, but its balance can feel awkward. The rear end likes to step out suddenly, especially when braking while turning. High-speed direction changes also feel heavier than expected for a supercar.
A few main issues stand out:
Weak braking stability
Sudden oversteer during corner exits
Heavy body roll in fast turns
Inconsistent grip on technical roads
That is why most experienced players immediately tune the chassis before seriously racing the car online or in higher-difficulty events.
Best Upgrades for the 2005 Ford GT
If you do not want to simply download the share code, you can recreate the setup manually inside the garage. These upgrades focus on improving grip, braking consistency, and cornering stability while keeping the car fast enough for S1 competition.
Engine Upgrades
Install the following:
Race Intake
Race Pistons
These upgrades add usable power without making the car uncontrollably aggressive.
Platform & Handling
For handling improvements, install:
Race Brakes
Race Suspension
Race Anti-Roll Bars (Front and Rear)
This is where most of the transformation happens. The upgraded suspension and anti-roll bars dramatically improve the Ford GT’s stability during quick transitions.
Drivetrain
Use:
Sport Transmission
Race Differential
The differential upgrade is especially important because it helps calm the rear end under throttle and braking.
Tires & Rims
For maximum grip:
Max Front Tire Width
Max Rear Tire Width
Front Track Width +1
Rear Track Width +1
The wider setup helps the car feel more planted during long sweepers and high-speed braking zones.
Full Tuning Settings
After installing the parts, head into the tuning menu and apply these values.
Tire Pressure
Front: 28 PSI
Rear: 28 PSI
This gives the tires a larger contact patch and improves cornering grip.
Gearing
Final Drive: 4.33
This gearing setup improves acceleration out of medium-speed corners and helps the Ford GT feel stronger during street races.
Alignment
Front Camber: -1.3°
Rear Camber: -0.7°
Front Toe: 0.2°
Rear Toe: 0.0°
Front Caster: 5.8°
These values improve front-end response without making the rear unstable.
Anti-Roll Bars
Front: 22.1
Rear: 20.1
The car becomes much flatter in high-speed turns and feels more predictable during fast direction changes.
Springs
Front: 837.9 lb
Rear: 1,027.1 lb
The slightly stiffer rear setup helps maintain balance while keeping traction under acceleration.
Ride Height
Front: 5.0 in
Rear: 5.0 in
Lowering the ride height improves overall stability and reduces body movement.
Damping
Rebound Stiffness
Front: 8.6
Rear: 10.5
Bump Stiffness
Front: 5.7
Rear: 6.8
These damping values smooth out weight transfer and help prevent the car from becoming unsettled over bumps.
Differential
Rear Acceleration: 30%
Rear Deceleration: 60%
This is one of the most important adjustments in the build. It keeps the rear from snapping loose when braking aggressively into corners.
How the Setup Feels on the Road
Once fully tuned, the Ford GT becomes much more enjoyable to drive. It still feels fast and aggressive, but now the car actually responds consistently when pushed hard.
The biggest improvement is confidence. You can brake later, attack corners harder, and apply throttle earlier without constantly worrying about losing the rear.
On mountain roads and technical highway sections, the grip-focused setup performs especially well. The car carries speed smoothly through medium and high-speed corners while still having enough acceleration to dominate straights. |
